Today, Saturday, His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh Ghazouani, assumed the rotating presidency of the African Union for the year 2024.
The reception ceremony took place during the opening session of the 37th ordinary session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union, which was held at the Union’s headquarters in Addis Ababa, under the slogan: “Educating Africa adapted to the twenty-first century.”
His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh Al-Ghazouani, took over the reins of leadership from His Excellency Razali Othmani, President of the State of the Comoros, who today concluded his term as President of the African Union for the year 2023.
The handover ceremony took place during the official opening of the 37th Summit of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government, in the presence of the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, the Vice-Chairman of the Commission, representatives of the United Nations, the Regional Economic Communities, dignitaries and invited guests in addition to African Union staff.
