ENERGY

The energy sector witnessed remarkable dynamism, which enabled the doubling of production, the extension of more networks, and the introduction of renewable energies. Experts predict promising prospects for this sector; In light of the work on developing and exploiting the “Panda” field, and the discovery of huge gas reserves by the “Cosmos” and “Chevron” companies on the Mauritanian coasts.

The diversity of energy resources in the country, and the Mauritanian government’s awareness that energy is synonymous with development, are two sources that have created a qualitative leap in this sector. The Mauritanian authorities worked to put in place a legislative and institutional framework that takes into account the importance of modernizing it. ensuring its transparency; harmonizing it with international systems, which enabled the country to move from the stage of deficit; To record a surplus in the production of electric power, which is now being exported to some neighboring countries.

This resource constitutes an important opportunity for investment in Mauritania, in light of the severe shortage experienced by neighboring countries and the semi-region in general, which means that it constitutes a promising market with proven profitability.

The sufficiency achieved by the country in the field of electric energy will enable the development of manufacturing industries in the future, and will allow a significant reduction in the cost of production.

This energy is produced through dozens of electric stations that pump hundreds of megawatts produced from the various energy resources available in the country, supplemented by a wide transmission and distribution network that is updated from time to time; This network includes high, medium, and low voltage lines.

The available energy resources in the country include (gas, petroleum, thermal energy, hydropower) and the country has been able to occupy advanced ranks among the countries of the region in the field of renewable energy (solar; wind), where the country’s climate is characterized by the number of sunny days that cover the entire days The year (365 days / 12 hours per day), with a wind speed of 7 meters / second in the Nouadhibou region, which guarantees a source of clean, renewable and inexhaustible energy, and in significant quantities that provide promising investment opportunities in this sector.
