The Minister of Vocational Training, Traditional Industry and Crafts and the Mauritanian Ambassador to Washington hold important meetings in the US state of Iowa.

His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Maalainine Ould Eyih, Minister of Vocational Training, Handicrafts, and Trades of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, conducted a working and exploratory visit to the State of Iowa from May 14 to 18, 2025. He was accompanied throughout the mission by Her Excellency Mrs. Cissé Mint Cheikh Boide, Mauritania’s Ambassador to the United States, and a significant accompanying delegation.

This mission marked an important milestone in strengthening ties between Mauritania and the State of Iowa, notably through the U.S.-Arab Chamber of Commerce (NUSACC), by identifying common areas of interest and laying the groundwork for mutually beneficial collaboration in education, agriculture, and skills development.

The visit program included a series of high-level meetings and institutional visits, including:

A meeting with Iowa Secretary of State, the Honorable Paul Pate, and Iowa Secretary of Agriculture, the Honorable Michael Naig,
Visits to several universities and community colleges focused on vocational training.
