The Foreign Minister meets US Assistant Secretary of State for Political Affairs

On December 14, 2022, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Mauritanians Abroad, Mr. Mohamed Salem Ould Merzoug, held talks with the US Assistant Secretary of State for Political Affairs, Ms. Victoria Nuland, during his participation in the Africa-US Summit held from December 13 to 15, 2022.

The two sides discussed strengthening cooperation and partnership between our country and the United States, appreciating the decision taken by the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) to grant our country eligibility for this program, highlighting that this decision will have a positive impact on the development of bilateral relations and ways to enhance them.

The meeting took place in the presence of the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania in Washington, Mrs. Cisse Cheikh BOIDE, and the Senior Counselor at the Embassy, Mr. Jiddou Ould Abderrahmane, in addition to a high-level delegation from the US Department of State.
