Meeting of the Chairman of the National Human Rights Committee at the Ministry of Labor

On May 3, 2023, Mr. Ahmed Salem Buhoubeyni, Chairperson of the National Human Rights Committee, held a meeting with Ms. Thea Mei Lee, Undersecretary of the US Department of Labor.

The meeting dealt with a presentation  by the President on the objectives and work of the Committee, in which he referred to the progress achieved in the fields of human rights in our country, and noted the role played by the government in strengthening the legal arsenal and establishing freedom of the law of associations, as well as the enactment of laws in order to combat child labor and human trafficking and all other forms of inequality.

Her Excellency the Ambassador intervened and appreciated the various efforts made by the government to promote human rights, support democracy, upgrade the human element and grant the Committee.

The meeting was attended by the Chairman of the Committee Mr. Ahmed Salem Bouhoubeyni, H.E. Ambassador Cisse Cheikh BOIDE, First Counselor at the Embassy, Jiddou ould Abderrahmane, Second Counselor Abderrahmane El Haj Gaye, Yoon Lee, International Relations Officer Africa Division at the Ministry of Labor, Ms. Shanda Olka, Responsible for Child Labor Reporting, Crispin Rigby, AGOA Representative and Paulo Arajo, an employee at the Ministry of Labor.
