Our country participates in the meeting of finance ministers of African countries in Washington

*The Minister of Economy chairs the meeting of African Ministers of Economy and Finance and Central Bank Governors*

The Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Mr. Abdeslam Ould Mohamed Saleh, accompanied by the African Union Commissioner in charge of Economy, Industry and Trade, Mr. Albert Muchanga, chaired, Monday morning, at the headquarters of the African Union Representative in Washington, a meeting of the Ministers of Economy and Finance and Central Bank Governors of the African Union countries to discuss coordinating positions on the major problems presented to the G20, in particular.  Those related to Africa, such as the sustainable debt approach, reforming the governance system of multilateral financial institutions, and financing infrastructure to assist development and a just energy transition.

The participants agreed on a coordinated action mechanism to guarantee Africa’s interests during the upcoming G20 summit in Brazil next November and to actively participate in the specialized ministerial and technical meetings that will be organized during the coming months before the summit is held.

On the Mauritanian side, in addition to the Minister of Economy, the meeting was attended by the Minister of Finance, Mr. Islem Ould Mohamed Ambadi, the Governor of the Central Bank, Mr. Mohamed Lamine Ould Dahabi, the Advisor to the President of the Republic, Mr. Sid Ahmed Ould Abouh, our Ambassador to Washington, Ms. Sissa Mint Bida, and the Director General of Finance and International Cooperation, Mr. Mohamed Salem Ould Al-Nani.

After this meeting, the Mauritanian delegation held a private meeting with the African Union Commissioner in charge of Economy, Industry and Trade, during which the coordination mechanism related to the G20 Summit was set between our country, which chairs the African Union, and the relevant African Union Commission.
